Pre/Postnatal & Pediatric Care
Dr. Nichole also specializes in the specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment for breech babies, called the Webster Technique. This adjustment enables balance in the pregnant woman’s pelvis and reduces undue stress to her uterus and supporting ligaments. This balanced state in the pelvis makes it easier for a breech baby to turn naturally.
Achieve a healthier pregnancy with a smoother, easier delivery
During pregnancy, there are several changes that occur in preparation for creating the environment for the developing baby. Due to the protruding abdomen and increased back curve, the pelvis could become misaligned. This may reduce the amount of room available for the developing baby. This restriction is called intrauterine constraint. A misaligned pelvis may also make it difficult for the baby to get into the best possible position for delivery.
A pregnant woman’s body produces a chemical called Relaxin to loosen the pelvic joints so baby can come out. However, this chemical affects all of the joints in the body and can cause joint instability in other areas. When a joint becomes unstable, it can move out of alignment and may lead to decreased function and pain.
Chiropractic care during pregnancy may provide the following benefits for:
- Maintaining a healthier pregnancy
- Controlling symptoms of nausea and heart burn
- Reducing the time of labor and delivery
- Relieving back, neck or joint pain
- Prevent a potential cesarean section
Loving Care for Your Little Ones!
At Harvey Family Health Care, we’re seeing more and more parents seeking chiropractic care for their children. Many spinal problems seen in adults began as early as birth. Even natural birthing methods can stress an infant’s spine and developing nervous system. The resulting irritation to the nervous system caused by spinal and cranial misalignment can be the cause of many newborn health complaints. Colic, breathing problems, nursing difficulties, torticolis, sleep disturbances, allergic reactions and chronic infections can often be traced to nervous system stress.
Since significant spinal trauma can occur at birth, many parents have their newborns checked right away. As the infant grows, learning to hold up the head, sit, crawl and walk are all activities that affect spinal alignment and are important times to have a child checked by a chiropractic doctor.
Parents also seek chiropractic care for their children for the resolution of a particular symptom or condition. Colic, ear infections, asthma, allergies and headaches are just a few of the reasons parents recommend coming to us for pediatric chiropractic care.
